Earlier this year the Berkeley Federation of Teachers (BFT) declared a work-to-rule slowdown to pressure the district into giving the teachers a contract. They have not had a contract for several years now. However, the work-to-rule protest is an ineffective method of putting pressure on the district and is extraordinarily detrimental to the schools involved.

Who we are

We are Berkeley High School students who believe that the work-to-rule protest is an unproductive means of putting pressure on the district and that it severely impacts the student body and staff at BUSD schools in harmful ways. We are not against the teachers. We are not opposed to them getting contracts. We simply disapprove of BFT's recent actions. We want them to call off the work-to-rule protest.
